Its time to fly to Tbilisi. As always, our plans to meet with legends of Georgian winemaking. Feel real Georgia - creative, attractive and elegant.
We have already formed our own traditions in Georgia. Always staying at Stamba and Rooms hotels, dine with winemakers at their houses, not eating khinkali and khachapuri :) even though we have already found a special place with top khinkali. This time we add something new. We invite you to immerse yourself in the world that Rezo Gabriadze built and spend the evening at a performance in his marionette theatre. Comedy, tragedy, philosophy and love are all united by silk filaments. Day 1 → 5.03
Day flight to Tbilisi with Sky Up airline. We will have time to rest and take a walk around the city before an evening tasting of old vintages of wines made by classical method (in qvevri) in the monasteries of Shavnabad and Alaverdi. Some of the wines were aged in qvevri for more than 5 years, others were aged for a long time in bottles. Shavnabada is a male monastery, not a tourist place, located in 30 kilometers from Tbilisi. It was built on the mountain of the same name in the 12th century. "Shavi nabadi" in Georgian means a black cloak, there are various legends behind this name. Alaverdi Monastery, one of the largest in Georgia, is currently under consideration for inclusion in the UNESCO list. The history of the monastery begins in the 6th century, when a temple was built around which the monastery grew. And the restaurant itself, where tasting and dinner will take place, will surprise you with its modern approach to traditional dishes in. the best way it could be.
Day 2 → 6.03
The sulfur baths are planned for this morning. This is how Georgians usually visit them, and after hot pools, you can order grape scrub. The private rooms of the best baths in the city are decorated with mosaics, very cozy and the atmosphere in this place is extremely calming. After the baths, also according to tradition, we will go to try the kash soup. They also say that you need to try a glass of chacha, but this is no longer necessary as we are sure in evening you will be able to try it :). We will have time to return to the hotel and prepared for one of the most interesting dinners. It will take place at the house of the winemaker Eko Glonti (Lagvinari wines, those that you can see in the wine lists of iconic London restaurants). Such dinners are always long and delicious, accompanied by interesting conversations and sometimes ending with jazz listening.
Day 3 → 7.03
This time we will show you an interesting young winemaker (we will keep his name in secret) who made his sparkling wine according to traditional French method. Aromas that can be found in the glass speaks about Georgian grape varieties but thin bubbles, long aftertaste and good acidity show us a French style. Later we will meet with known winemaker John Wurdeman (Pheasants Tears wines) and will spend with him the rest of the day. And in the evening will share a table in the restaurant accompanied by polyphonic singing.
Day 4 → 8.03
Today will start with a short road to the winery in Kartli. This region is gaining more and more popularity among winemakers, and you will immediately understand the reason, the wines from local varieties are very elegant and complex. At the winery, we will look at all the details of such a specific vessel as qvevri, because we will find it not only buried in the ground, but also those that will be above the ground. This approach is very modern so a lot of talks around it. But these details are best heard from the winemaker himself. We will taste wines, both red and white. And in the evening, a fascinating theatrical performance awaits us at the legendary Rezo Gabriadze marionette theatre. Tickets for performances are sold out instantly, in addition to popularity, the small hall itself contributes to this. If we have a desire, we will take a walk to a stylish Georgian wine bar, where you can taste delicious traditional dishes and other interesting wines, where the owner of the bar is always there and will be happy to have guests like us.
Day 5 → 9.03
This morning we will have some time for a walk or a long nap. At 14.00 we'll go to the airport.
